In the United States, the true authority on hot dogs is the National Hot Dog and Sausage Council. Like most associations these folks have to be diplomatic when it comes to judging the merits of its constituency and can't really say what they believe if it show favoritism toward any one individual constituent. But once in a while, the truth refuses to stay in the shadows. Such is the case with their recent March Madness Hot Dog and Sausage Tournament on Facebook, where the WVHD vanquished all comers.
All hail the victors! West Virginia Hot Dogs reign supreme!
I am a proud native of Summers county. I do not see a review of the renowned Hinton Hot Dog. We have for 50 years traveled back to Hinton from all over the world for a pilgrimage to Kirk's or Dairy Queen for our hot dog fix. How can you shun us? (it it is on here and I missed it, oops)
ReplyDeleteI still like brats though.
ReplyDeleteI'm tearing up my bandwidth by checking this site everyday for a new review. Please help me make the time money and effort worth it. Is Yanns still open?
ReplyDeleteI've lived in West Virginia since 1974, and I just never got the hang of the classic West Virginia hot dog with chili and cole slaw. I mean, it's OK, but I MUCH prefer sauerkraut (with maybe a little shmear of mustard also). In West Virginia, if you ask for sauerkraut on your hot dog, they look at you like you're from Mars.
