2008 Weenie Awards: Best Huntington Hot Dog (Suburban Division)

Good news, 'Peakers. M & M Dairy Bell has picked up a Weenie Award for the second year runnin'.

Last year, they won for the best joint in the Huntington area. This year, they take home the hardware for the best hot dog in the suburban and rural areas surrounding Huntington.

They have, hands down, the best atmosphere of any HDJ in Greater (or Lesser, if the new census data is to be believed) Huntington and are still serving up tasty dogs just the way any self-respecting West Virginian would want 'em (nevermind the minor technicality that they are a few hundred feet north of the river bank).

If you're in Huntington and stuck in a Stewarts/Sam's/Frostop/Hillbilly rut, head n over to Chesapeake and order two dogs with sauce, slaw, mustard, and onion and an order crinkle-cut fries (some of the best in the Tri State) or, better yet, a side of 'Peakes Pride bacon cheese fries.

You'll thank me later.

It still makes me uncomfortable to outsource our Weenie Awards to those Buckeyes. But free trade, I guess, is a good thing. I mean NAFTA worked didn't it?

Didn't it?

Political geography aside, go to Chesapeake and then go to one of those McMansion subdivs in the Eastern Panhandle and tell me which one is more WV.

I've been meaning to pick up a dog from this place, thanks for the reminder. I believe I'll pick mine up and drive across the bridge and have them on WV soil, that just seems fitting :)

Get your dogs to go if you must, but be sure to eat-in at some point in the future for burgers, fries, and floats in order to capture the authentic Appalachian dairy bar atmosphere.

Thanks guys, see you in a week!

I've been to about 80 or 90 cities and towns in Ohio, and Chesapeake is my third favorite behind Athens and Galipolis, and about 68% of that reason is M & M Dairy Bell.

BTW, last place? You guessed it, Huber Heights.
